All year long we have been building up our telephone plant—adding long distance facilities. Even
with this expansion, the huge volume of everyday
calls keeps our equipment busy at peak capacity.
We will do everything we can to handle holiday
calls promptly, but with the extra volume of calls
there will still be unavoidable delays. That’s why
we suggest that if you place a friendly holiday long
distance call, you do so on days other than Decems
ber 24 or 25. Thank you.

Precious little pipe
..s0 GAS service to thousands is delayed!
Las often these days
we are forced to say «ee
“Sorry, we cannot
connect you to gas
service this month.”
We have plenty of GAS
for home use, but we
just don’t have the pipe
necessary to connect
homes.or businesses
to the street mains.
Last August manufacturers cut off all
pipe deliveries. Despite
that we are doing our
level best to obtain the
pipe we need to-serve
you. We are buying
what War Surplus pipe
is available: we are
scouring the nation
for other pipe, but there
i is not enough to go
around. We want you
to know that everything is being done to
get pipe and to serve
gas wherever it
is needed.
It is the small “home-size” ,
Pipe that is so scarce today. 3%4 inch, 1 inch and
114 inch sizes are used to
connect homes to street
mains .. Today we are
getting only one-third of
the amount of this pipe
we require.
