SACRAMENTO, Feb. 17.—Sacramento business interests this week
pledged nearly $200,000 toward the
underwriting of the SacramentoGolden Empire Centennial Celebration in 1939. Completion of the
$2.00,000 underwriting necessary to
stage the celebration is expected by
next week, President Edwin R. Pickett declared following an enthusiastic mass meeting of citnzens at which
representatives of 85 organizations
pledged their complete support to
the program.
A meeting of representatives of
civic organizations in Golden Empire
communities to discuss the HomeComing Weeks, part of the celebration, has been set for Friday, February 25th by L. B. Osborn, president
of the Golden Empire Association.
The meeting will be at 2:30 p. m.
in Roseville icity hall, followed by a
dinner at which Judge Don Bass will
preside. «
Another event was added to the
Centennial program this week with
the announcement that a rodeo has
been. scheduled as part .of the spring
program in. 1939. As a preliminary
event, a rodeo will be held this year
on April 29, 30 and May 1 at the
state fair grounds under the direction of the Centennial Committee.
Farmers of Sacramento Valley will
have the opportunity to hear Henry
A. Wallace, secretary of agriculture,

Place meat in kettle with boiling

that the course is not open to students enrolled in the aeronautics
branch of the college, but is a layman’s course offered to acquaint the
student with the technical side of
