Simons and Gould. His death was entirely unure of’ the heart, following an “acute attack of diarrhoea and nausea.” Mr, Tilden died in the 73d year of his age. He received a collegiate educatjon and entered polities early in life. For thirteen. years he was chairman of the ~ Democratic State Committee of New York. He was a member of the Legislature and of two State constitutional conventions. He served aterm as Governor of New York, and in 1876 was the unsuc*,cestfal candidate against R. B. Hayes fur President. He was an able lawyer, a shrewd politician, @ great statesman, anda citizen who had the respect of all honest men. Space Limited. Tidings: —-On Saturday las some parties hunting in the vicinity of Jos. Rienhart’s place dropped a lighted cigarette in the grass and thé consequence was a big fire in the woods. The fire burned fiercely for about 48 hours, destroying a lot of timber, dry feed and brush fence.
