LICENSE PLATES ARE ON THE WAY Vehicle owners of Nevada City and Grass Valley who have not yet raceived their 1947 license plates and registration cards are asked not to worry and to refrain from writing letters to the Department of Motor Vehicles, in a message received here today from Director Edgar E. Lampton. Althonzh the plates are being mailed out as fast as they are made up by “the manufacturer, Lampton said, it will not be pessible to produce ali of the 147 plate contract before early April because of the steel shortage, onsequently, it will ve close to May 1 before all plates have been mailed out to applicants. At this time approximately 14,250,000 pairs of plates have been received from the manufacturer out of a contract that is close to 3,000,000 pairs.
