Almost Quarter Million Paid
Monthly to Miners in Wages
While several of the larger mines
‘have imcreased their working forces
during the past month, a number of
the smaller properties have laid off
“men, due to lack of water, refinancing, or to the need of readjustments
for development purposes, so that
the total number of men remains alniost the same as that in the Nevada
City ‘Nugget’s last Mining Development issue covering this county.
The number of men employed is
now 2078 as compared with 2004
‘last month. The payroll stands at
still hovering near the
million payroll
fu the United States.
Among the mines that have added

indicates that the mining industry in
this county is in a very healthy condition.
