Questions Answered.
Is it true that County Clerk F. G.
Beatty suppresses a portion of the
proceedings of the Board of Supervisors from the reports which he
farnishes tothe Transeript for publiea-_
tion? If he does, by whose authority ?
we ask.—San Juan Times,
No, it is not true Tae Transcrirt
reporter copies the proceedings himself, and he challenges the editor of the
Times,-or any other man,to prove that
_-any portion of the proceedings have
been omitted. Is that satisfagtory,
Judge?
Going to C. mmence Suits.
The San Juan Times of yesterday
says: ‘‘We intend to bring actions
against every member of the Board ot
Supervisors who has been derelict in
the discharge of his duties, and who
has mismanaged the affairs of the
county. Our charges will embrace a
variety of acts of omission and com
mission of the Board, and also fraud
upon the treasury. Our business at
the county seat last week was, in part,
to secure counsel in the actions. The
inquiry which will be instituted may
also involve other county officers.
There is a wide scope for inquiry.
Any suit“instituted by us or by our
direction will be commenced under
the law of 1883-4, page 911, entitled,
“An Act Providing for the Removal
of County Officers for a Violation o!
Official Duties ;” approved March 20th,
1874. Stand from under!”
They Only Agree on One Poins.
A special carrier pigeon has just arrived bringing the latest advice from
Hawaii. Rex'siill holds the throne,
notwithstanding that terrific efforts are
being made to put him out. The good
people were all called together, but
could not agree on any proposition
save one, and that was that George C.
Gaylord of Nevada City sells the
choicest family groceries at the most
reasonable rate, and keeps the best
assortment in stock. Great news is
expected by the next message from
Hawaii. a2-tf
