TWAN’S DANCE
(By KATHERINE BRAITHWAITE)
Without doubt the aoa is danceminded and Twamley Hall at Nort!
San Juan is the mecca for Nevada,
Sierra and Yuba counties’ nimblefooted dancers. Last Saturday evening a huge crowd witnessed another
of the happy &ffairs that are staved
in this town every other tweck.
Grass Valley, Nevada City and
Downieville were amply represented
as well as all the -other © small
towns but it was decidedly Camptonville’s night to honor North’ San

Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop,
Mr.-Elwood Shurr and Mr. and Mrs.
William Davis of the Gold Pan lodge
were among those in attendance with
their parties. Besides there was a

The merchants of Grass Valley
and Nevada City donated many beautiful prides and full percentage of
these lovely gifts were carried off
by the folks from Camptonville. Bill
Groves of that town won the five
dollars cash door prize. Other out of
town visitors who won useful gifts
were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kneebone
of Bridgeport, Mr. Harry Beason,
Mr. Carl Kaemer of Washington and
Miss Peggy Moody.
Eddie Meltz and his fine orchestra kept the dancers contented with
‘. tunes both old and new and the
crooning lady delighted ‘the huge
crowd singing the . songs in her
charming manner and sweet voice.
There is a big surprise in store
for the crowd next dance night which
will be February 15. Watch the
newspapers for further information.
