The Gypies Free Touch January 30, 1952,
three gypsies drove into Irrenoh Corral in a
1951 Cadillac. It was not long before they
called on Sd. Richey, 72, and told him the gypsy oould cure him of his ills by the laying on
of hands. The cure vould not oost him a cent.
She took his hands in hers, rubbed them, saying, “These parts will give you no more trouble.
She gripped his elbows, rubbing them, and repeating the words, then his shoulders, then
his ribs, a nice little ceremony for each part,
soaked his feet in salt water, then she joined
Google
her husband and drove away. A little later,
D. Browning drove up to Rickey's house to see
about buying a horse. Rickey told him, "I
have just found my billfold is missing from
my hip pocket. It had $260.00 in it. He
desoribed the gypsie's car, and Browning set
out after the group. Before leaving, the
gypsies told Riokey to come-to their church
and give testimony of his oure.
In the meantime, the gypsies had come upon
another man,; Rudy Dahlberg, outside of Frenoh
Corral, They stopped their car, and in a few
moments the gypsy was rubbing Dahl berg's
hands, saying, "These parts will give you no
more trouble.* Then the elbows, then the
shoulders, then the ribs, then the hips, a
nice little ceremony for each part.
The woman's finger suddenly came upon a
gun, suspended from a shoulder holster under
Dahlbers's coat. The treatment ended instantly. She said, “You're oured, and don't need
further treatment." The gypsies fled in their
car. This was disastrous as it gave Browning
a chance to overtake them at Smartville in a
road blook. They were arrested. The woman
had on four or five dresses and $400.00. Other
gypsies showed up at the jail. Healing by
laying on the hands ended114
