And the legislature’s ultimate answer, it is clearly indicated, will de-. termine whether state taxes, which have more than trebled in six years, will continue to zoom upwards, or whether Governor Olson’s new tax proposals will be carried off to the legislative junkyard. It will also determine, in all probability, whether relief, in California is to become a permanent §institution!
Outwardly the major clashes, as the two houses pound into action, seem to revolve around the size of the relief appropriation, radical iniministration and the governor’s request for $50,000,000 in additional taxes.
