The past year has been one of , Twin Sister property is expected to
material progress for the. status of . put this ‘mine ‘on a real production:
sold mining inNevada and Sierra
counties and it is a safe bet that
Nevada county will soon assume
supremacy.as the premier gold producing county of the state. She has
been first for some years
production of gold from quartz and
preceded only by Yuba county with
her -gold dredgers. At least three
properties will be on a production
basis during the-coming month and
with the coming of spring there will
be a number of. other properties
ready to release their rich treasure
into the marts of trade.
The turning of capital toward
gold production once more afte!
some years of dabbling in oil has
been quite pronounced in this section the past year. The Murchie,
Alice Bell and Westen Merger will
be the first on the produetion chart
with the ElDorado, German Bat
and. TWin Sister soon to follow. The
Brush Creek property. went onto a
production basis the past year and
with the completion of shaft sinking operations will resume milling.
Sierra county saw nine. hydraulic
properties in operation with over
183,000 cubie yards of gravel washed during the year. Several new
properties will be added tothe list
this year and with the revival of interest. at Sierra City,.will see Sierra
county on the map in good shape
again. The Alleghany and Sierra City districts are both due for a big
comeback. ;
Nevada City Section — _
The rehabilitation of the Murchie
property .has been the outstanding
feature of the local district the past
year and with the 20 stamp mill
at. this property in full production
will mean’ much to this county as
this mine is one of the admittedly
rich properties of the state. The
lease on the Alice Bell has seen a
new stamp mill erected and as sdon
as the power hookup is completed
tht stamps will be dropping on th~’
rich ore which has recently
uncovered. ees
The Western Merger mill will be
completed in a few weeks and with
the large reserves of high grade ore
which have been blocked out the
past year will have a long run
ahead. The striker mace on the varbeen

North Star.and the’ uncovering of
new orebodies on the 8600 level.
The Empire company has acquired
the: Contention holdings and is reported expecting to reopen the Pennsylvania workings at an early date.
The Boundary is a new producer
