enormous yields of grapes on his Bizweni Farm, Somerset West, Kenneth
B. Quinan. gives much’ of the credit
for his success to “the University of
California College of Agriculture, in
a letter written to his brother, Dr.
Clarence Quinan of Nevada City. The
-Bizweni Farm, some forty miles east
of Cape Town, produced 6,700. boxes
of 10 pounds each, with 362 vines to
‘the acre.

Night Officer Howard Brown was
called to the home of Frank Vigilanti on Sacramento sereet at an early
hour New. Years morning where Dan
J. McDonald was disturbing the
peace. He was accused of breaking
into the home of. Vigilanti. McDonald allegedly had been drinking and
when the officer arrived he was angry and struck Mr. Brown. The man
was lodged in the city jail.
Chief of Police Garfield Robson
took McDonald to the county jail
Thursday and charged him with assault and disturbing the peace.
