J: Defreese of McEwen, Oregon, left for Cherokee on January 2, 1929 and are expected to arrive here on the 6th or 7th. They are practical dairy people and may locate here, as they have had enough of the cold winter of Eastern Oregon. It was 25° below zero this winter at McEwen. They intend to spend some time at M. C. Wislers and parents. of Cherokee, _as well as their only son, Albert Defreese, wife and §80n. ‘Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Boren and children, Bobbie and Helén, of! Stockton visited the Wisler’s for a few days and seem to like Cherokee quite well. They. returned home. Sunday afternoon. : The Salmon mine is closed during the holidays, and is expected to open in a few days. The Siberia’ mine did not close, during the holidays. They are well . satisfied with the prospects, as are the Salmon people ,we have been informed. There are rumors. of a factory! or mill being opened up, in or near Cherokee.
