Cee ' ap the PAGE SIX aaa lal = — neers = — THE NEVADA CITY NUGGET, CALIFORNIA oh gee eee FRIDAY, JULY_10,_1931 eames BANK OF AMERICA . ISSUES STATEMENT The distinctive statewide service rendered by the Bank of Aimerica in aiding to build up the business, industrial and agricultural resources of Californiais reflected in the semiannual statement of the institution, published tday. The figures include’ ‘poth the Bank of America National the state affiliate of the same name. The total. assets are placed at $1,120,645,127.58 and the total deposits $962,423,938.96 in the state-. ment. Changes in the ‘Various As-. set’? account include an increase of, $10,864,812.96 in the holdings of United States government and other bonds, bringing the total of govern. ment securities held by the bank to $161,160,116.08. The items of ‘‘Cash and Due From . Banks’’, plus the “Bond Investment . which totals $391,738,707.41 in the} aggregate, compares very yavernbly . with the deposits of $962,423,938.96 The decrease since January in the item of ‘Loans, Discounts and Bankers’ Acceptances”, which amounts to $63,173,532.56 is in line with present business conditions funds received from this source naturally find investment in the bond account. : A decrease in deposits from the January 1 statement is accountea for toa great extent by the use of . funds by the U. S. Government and! other public agencies and the usual seasonal requirements for agricultural purposes. “The semi-annual” statement of the Bank of America very closely reflects the building up process in! which the state is engaged at the! present time,” Arnold J. Mount, President, said. ‘‘Every major busi-'! ness, industrial and agricultural in-i terest, and most of the smaller ones. are going through a process of; change in order -to meet not only the present conditions but to provide . for the future grwth that we have: every reason to expect. It is a period of economic rehabilitation in which naturally enough, the bank-. ing function is called on to play an: eutstanding part. “J think it particularly significant that at no time during this period of depression have our banks been forced t adopt drastic measures to Meet the situation. They have provided as easily and securely for decreased business as they provided for increased business during more favorablé periods.” : SWEETHEART OF THE SALINAS CALIF RODEO Fresno County’s candidate for “Sweetheart of the California Rodeo’’ at Salinas, Maudine Cleason, will desert her Pal of the Plains for the time being, and will descend upen the city of California’s greatest Rodeo by airplane Wednesday morning, July 22nd, opening day of the show.
