‘SUNNY’ WILL
OPEN THURSDAY
Based on the renowned musical
comedy of the same name, Anna
. Neagle’s mew starring vehicle, ‘‘Sunny”? recounts the remance of an aljluring dancer with a badly smitten
. young man of society. The film dra. ma opens at the Nevada Theatre next
. Thursday. The story is laid against
. the colorful setting of a New Or‘leans of today gay with Mardi Gras
celebrants—and is acted by a cast
, of screen and stage notables.
Strikingly different from any of
the star’s previous offerings, the new
picture stresses the romantic note to
an unusual degree, with John Carrol as the hero and with such cele‘other roles.
Miss ‘Neagle has the title part of
a dancer and equestrienne who is the
bright star of a little carnival.
Caught up in the whirl and gaiety of
a Mardi Gras crowd, she meets a
handsome young Lousianan, Larry
Warren and it’s a case of love at first
sight.
Although his snobbish sister endeavors to break up the affair, a
wedding is scheduled to take place at
Larry’s huge family home, but just
before the ceremony a group of the
carnival folk arrive to pay their respects to the bride, embarrassing the
guests and reducing Sunny to tears.
‘Feeling that she can have no place
among Larry’s people, she runs away
.and rejoins the carnival, but Larry
suprred on by his hard boiled old
aunt, follows her and effects a reconciliation,

six months.”’
Authorization for use of ptison
labor by the state divisions of forestry, parks and fish and game was
‘given by the legislature this year.
Division chiefs discussed the qugstion at a recent meeting at San Quentin prison.
The principal barrier to use of
convict labor, Fulton said, was lack
of an appropriation. He pointed out
the most economical estimates called for expenditure of
mental camps.
“The legislature apparently is out
of the habit of furnishing us’ with
funds for developments of projects
since during ‘the past few years WPA,
NYA and CCC funds have been available,’”’ Fulton said.
