The bride is the former Miss Helen Rickard of Nevada City, a graduate of the local high,school with the class of 1935. She was attended at the wedding by her sister, Florence Rickard of Nevada City. PLAZA GROCERY MURDER HEARING 10 BE THURSDAY The preliminary hearing for, Robert Wear, accused of the murder of his brother, Jerry, 69, was postponed yesterday until next Thursday. The hearing wil+be-hetd Justice of the Peace Charles Morehouse in Grass Valley. The murder complaint against Robert was signed by Sheriff Carl J. Tobiassen, The officer charges the brother inflicted the fractured skull which caused Jerry’s death in a fignt June 10th. In denying the accusation Wear held in the county jail here, said his brother was injured when he fell against a tree. before UNOFFICIAL APPROVAL GIVEN CHIEF’S CHOICE Unofficially, the city council has approved the choice of Max Solaro, who will take office as chief of police on August 1st, for the new city police job. The new officer will be Al Sommers, well known resident of the city and husband of Jane Sommers, chief telephone operator. Sommers is now becoming accustomed to the duties as officer. The council authorized Solaro to make the appointment, the choice to be approved by the board. It is expected the appointment will be officially confirmed at August meeting of the council. TWO WOMEN INJURED ON DONNER SUMMIT The bicycle tour of the country by two young Vermont women came to an abrupt halt Tuesday night when they were injured on Donner Summit. i The, women, Misses Jennie Needham and Vera _ Peterson, where it was determined Miss Needham is suffering with a. fractured skul.l Miss Peterson is not seriously injured. The two were injured when thrown to the highway pavement when the truck they held onto to ascend the summit suddenly picked up speed. FRANK SIMMONDS WILL BE SENTENCED TODAY Justice of the Peace George Gildetsleeve late ‘today will sentence Frank Simmonds, 41, arrested earlier in the week by Deputy Sheriff Fred Williford and Game Warden Jarl’ Hiscox upon the complaint of Miss Jeannette Skinner, 20. Miss Skinner sought safety in the county jail here after Simmonds reportedly threatened to beat her and refused to give her anything to eat. She said she had lived with Simmond for two years. The young woman has been released and has left this distriét.
