PUNCTURE VINE Agricultural Commissioner L. G. Legason stated Monday a good) sized patch of puncture vine had been found on the Auburf highway north Of the Bear River bridge. State high_ Way crews are destroying the vines. The patch found in the Spenceville Section seven years ago is now un@er control. This weed is dangerous to livestock as it punctures the flesh ‘Of animals and has also been known to puncture automobile tires. Any®fe finding puncture vine growing in the county are asked to notify Mr. Lageson. He will ‘Immediately take steps to eradicate the weed. BERKELEY, July 20.—Five cooperative dormitories operated on the Berkeley campus of the University of California during the last year did a total business of more than '$110,000. This is revealed in a report of the University, of California Students’ Cooperative Association, ‘which in‘ludes four men’s houses and one for women, In four of the units, 365 men lived, and in the women’s house, 82 were housed. In addition, there ‘were 150 boarders who roomed outside the dormitories. Each of the dormitories is an individual unit, electing its own officers and appointing its own manager. A central board of directors has jurisdiction over corporation problems which affect all the houses. The work in the houses. is performed by the members, -although a chef and a heating engineer are paid, Student duties consist of waiting on tables, washing dishes, operating the switchboards, cleaning house, ete, Students are required to furnish their own blankets and Pillows, and to keep their rooms in order. Last year a central kitchen was established in Oxford House, to do the cooking for Oxford, Barrington and Atherton, with trucks and ‘containers to garry the food.
