Billion Gallons
Of Gas In 6 Months
SACRAMENTO, Jaly 24.—An alltime reco“d was established by motorists in California during the first
six months of 1941 when they consumed more than one billion gallons
of gaSoline.
Actually, the gallonage for the
first half of the current year has
amounted to 1,007,531,896, against
which the board assessed a total tax
of $30,225,956.97.
Indicative-of the increase in gasoline consumtion, the tax amounted
to an average of more than $5,000,000 a month. In contrast, June, 1940
was the first month ever to top the
$5,000,000 mark and was the only
month during the year 1940 to reach
such a total.
