' nd & .w Girls journeyed to Colfax Yuesday night where a-pageant zS, was presented fore the Colfax Bastern Star Lodge. The pageant was presented at the Eastern Star Lodse meeting here recently, receiving enthusiastic acc'aim. The pageant will be. presented before the Auburn lodge in September. ‘ The participants in the Colfax presentation included Craig Davies, ‘Elsie Schreiber, Shirley Davis, Lois i Davies, Ruth Tamblyn, Mary Mugford, T.ouise Polglase, June Hawke, Ruth Thomas, Marian Gwin, Donald ! Posworth,: Bill Rickard and Mrs. C. E. Bosworth. The pageant was directed by Mrs. Doris Foley. Country Club Entertains Members of the Gold Flat Country Club and their friends enjoyed a full day’s activities Sunday at the Mr. and Mrs. John Deschwanden ome in Gold Flat. A barbecue was served at noon and a supper at 6 o’clock. The tahles were set under the trees, providing a beautiful setting. During the afternoon games of:ail sorts were played and swimming was enjoyed by some of the guests. Ths events were interspersed with mus; ical selections by Mrs. C. E. Bos. ; worth and Mrs. Goodnight. A dance ; was held in the evening. Approximately 100 were present at the affair. FOOTHILL TEAMS TANGLE SUNDAY The Nevada City baseball team wiil travel to Georgetown Sunday for a Foothill League battle with the Georgetown nine, Manager Bill Clark will start Alex McKenzie on the mound with Mel Stinson behind the plate. The local nine hopes for a victory over Georgetown and many faus from here will make the trip to root for their favorite team and players. MINERS BATTLE CHICO IN CRUCIAL GAME An important game faces the Grass Valley Miners baseball team Sunday. ‘Phe Miners will tangle with Chico in the latter team’s diamond. By a victory the Grass Valley squad can go into a tie for first place with A loss for the Miners wiil eliminate them from the second half race. The Grass Volley team will depend upon Manager Archie Campbell to stop the Colts. Campbell pitched a victory over the Woodland nine last Sunday and is in good shape for next Sunday’s battle.
