GRASS VALLEY TEAM UPSETS CHICO COLTS The Sacramento Valley Baseball League is in three way tie again today as a result of yesterday’s games. The Grass Valley Miners pulled an PROBATION PLEA ~ MADE BY COLE William Cole, 62, Lime Kiln ranener, asked for probation when he appeared before Superior Judge Yeorge L. Jones Friday for sentencing following his conviction by a superior court jury of a misdemeanor assault charge. The provation application was referred to Probation Offiver A. W. McGagin for a report on Wednesday. Cole was tried.on a felony charge of assault with intent tocommit murder. The jury of seven women and five men returned the verdict on the misdemeanor charge after deliberating one hour. The felony complaint against-Cole was'signed by A. L. Rodda, nephew in law of the defendant. Rodda accused Cole of shooting him with a 22 caliber rifle-during the dispute over a gate which the two men used. Mrs. P. E. Marshall and children have left for Berkeley, where they will reside for the coming school term. The Marshall home here has been rented. upset by défeating the Chico Colts, first half champions, 6 to 2, behind the seven hit hurling of Manager Archie Campbell.
