The fact that Nevada City was'
chosen by the Mining Association as
the place in which to publish their
monthly mining publication is due
am a oertain extent to the fact that
"Nevada City and Grass Valley districts is the livilest mining district
gm the state. The fact that the Ne~wada City Nugget is one of the best
known weekly papers enjoying a
wide circulation was also a eontributing factor. The magazine idea
was the dream of the late publisher
cand it is regrettable that he did not
five to see’ it an accomplished fact.
om = a
Not only in mining is Nevada
City coming to the front but as a,
summer resort section. Seores of.
families have had to be turned away .
this summer-because there were no
accomodations availabl for them. A
/ ‘Piedmont doctor was in The Nugget
office this week end and stated that!
he was recommending his patients
who were suffering from sinus
trouble to come to this section but
that there were not houses available
in either town for them. This lack is
being overcome by some of our farsighted residents whg are building.
--Now is the time to build. Labor and
materials are both lower. than they
have been in many years, and houses
ean be built very reasonably at this
time. * ® *
It is good to see again the theatre
lights on upper Broadway and it
ausages well for the prosperity. Thei
Nugget congratulates Manager Tamblyn and his associate, George Calanan upon their accomplishment. A
theatre is an institution in a city
sand it is indeed a poor community
which cannt support one.

President Hoover's moritorium
idea is one of the cleverest strokes .
of polities which the wrld has witnessed in recent years. Not only is
he gaining the .admiration of the}
citizens of this great nation but the!
respect of all the leading nations of
the world. Those, who a few short
‘weeks ago had only criticism to ot-.
fer, are now loudest in their praise .
of the nation’s chief. There is no.
doubt that Hoover will the unanimous Republication nmination to
succeed himself.

SYMBOLS:
Upon the couch, there sets a doll;
A ball and bat are in the hall, /
And roller-skates are also there.
_Qur carpets show the marks of wear,
And sometimes show a track of mud—
And now and then I hear a thud
Of someone jumping up and down,
(At which I sometimes wear a frown.)
A table-cloth of snowy white
At morn, will spotted be at night.
And every night, I hear it said,
“Aw, I don’t wanta go to bed!”
_ And when I growl at bills, I hear—
“And they'll get bigger every year.”
And from these simple lines you'll see
That we have CHILDREN—yes, sir-ce!
