NEVADA CITY NUGGET FRIDAY, JULY 3, 1936._
FLYLOO EARLY

‘The effects “of wh whiskey straignt
exposed the qualities latent in the
character of the players. Glasses

on the bar, bets were made on every

Reopening has started in the old
Steep Hollow tunnel near the old
Lowery place with the idea of drifting to the Liberty Hill channel. It is
a 1750 foot tunnel and 1600 feet
have been opened up. Bad ground is
giving some trouble at present. J. T.
Anderson, superintendent, and family are living in an abandoned school
house at Lowell Hill. The property
was worked in early days and the
higher price of gold and certainty of
another portion of the old channel
being unworked prompted the new
company to reopen the mine.
PENNSYLVANIA MINE
Mr. E. R. Bennett of Nevada City
is superintendent of the Pennsylvania mine in Browns Valley for the
Newmont interests. It is reported
he has 50 men employed. Ore mined
at the property has been treated at
the Empire-Star mine in Grass Valley for some time past, and plans
of the company are for a mill in a
short time. Considerable adjoining
property has been optioned to the
Newmont company in recent months.
