GOES MINING ACTIVE IN :
<UL ADA AND SIERRA COUNTIES epee as
There hrs been quite a revival in
quarty mining in Nevada and Sierra
counties during the past year andthe
‘industry is in a more flourishing
condition than for many years, said
A. A. Willoughby, editor and publisherof the Nevada City Nugget,
who was in Reno Tuesday. In Grass
Valley and Nevada City 200 stamps
are dropping and two more mills, the
New England and Murchie, are starting up at Nevada City. In Sierra
county, around Alleghany, Downieville and Washington, a number of
mines are being déveloped. The Rescue-Eula, a Nevada company, has
started work on the. Gaston mine
and Gordon Bettles is sampling the
adjoining Ancho mine for the Yellow Tiger Cons. Mining Co. The future for quartz mining, Willoughby
declared, is very promising. The Nevada City Nugget has made a _ specialty of mining news and has done
much to advance the rich section of
California which it represents.—Neyada Mining Press.

THAT the best advertisement
pleases our senses. I was in Havana,
Cuba recently. It is the most beautifule ity in the western hemisphere.
It is-the-eleanest city on earth. Amthere are the automobiles. I saw
thousands of them of all makes and
all ages, but not one looked dingy
or old. Most of them were painted in . !
brighter colors than the common run
of our cars. All of them were polished. Havana cars shine like new dol.
lars. I saw an antique Chevrolet
with holes in its battered mud
guards, yet it shined like an Oklahoma bank clerk’s shoes on Sunday
morning at a Baraca meeting.
Brightness, brightness » everywhere!
No dust, no mud on any car in Havana! =
pelled owners to: keep their cars in,
