OHN NETTLE T0 HEAD LEGION POST NO. 130 John Nette!l of Grass Valley was ‘elected commander of Hague-Thomas-Hegarty Post No. 130, Americar Legion at the annual election held Tuesday evening. The elective corps plus a number of ampoint've office's who will assist him in his work are: Harry Morton, first vice comman4der; Gene Johnson, second vice commander: Ed Fisk, chaplain; Jack Glark, finance officer; Fernand Coplantz, sergesmt at arms: F‘ank Clark, color bearer; Stanley Woolcock, historian; Albert Burke, service officer; Frank Clark, Earl Sanders, Larry Dunn, Fernand Coplantz and D. D. Eldredge, executive committee. J Delegatss elected to the conyention, which will be held in Stockton during August are: Edgar Bawden, Maurice: Kach, Loyle Freeman and Walter Matteson as alternates. FOREST SERVICE” MAN IS HONORED CAMPTONVILLE, June 17.— Ahrend H. Behrens familiarly known as Henry and known to the Missouri boys as “Uncle Henry’? was honored at a supper given at the Cleveland home on Main street Monday evening Wis retirement from public service being the motive. He was the oldest employee of the local forest service headquarters, thaving filled the post of dispatcher for the past sixteen years. He reached retirement age this spring. He started under the late Ranger Whittum and continued with Ranger Meggers. He has put in many hours at the switchboard both day and night. A few years ago, during a heavy electrical storm he stuck to his post answering fire calls and was struck in tthe head with lightening, an injury from which he never completely recovered. Following the supper Judge Cleveland on behalf.of his friends, presented him with a gold lettered leather bill fold, with fitting remarks to which he responded pleasantl,. W. H. Clarke a former forest service employee and Ranger Frank Meggers also paid tribute to jis services. _ Those honoring Behren were: Richard R. Pfiffre, Fire Guard Leo Chatfield, Ranger Frank W. Meggers, Assistant Ranger Ralph lk. Gleason, W. H. Clarke, Myron Pauly and Judge Acton M. Cleveland.
