The Nugget in its June 13th issue, published a letter from two
German boys in Nuremburg, Germany appealing for’ food. The letter was.addressed to Mayor. Irvine
Seaman. Mrs. Franz Luschen, who
has relatives. in Germany.announced yesterday that she would undertake te pack and post a package of food if generous citizens
would contribute a: few cents toward making up a 11 pound package of nutritious food.
The names of the two boys are
George Laux and Half Martins.
They are engaged in cleaning up
the fuins of Nuremburg and their
food-ration, they state, is so small
it does not give them strength
enough; for the job.
The ‘Nugget will receive contributions to the amount of $12
to defray costs of buying and
posting a package of food for the
two boys. Mrs. Luschen will contribute to the fund and do the work. of packing and seeing the
box into the mail.

ENTERS REGULAR ARMY
Second LA. Julius H. Schmidt, Jr., of
Grass Valley, has been appointed by
the president a 2nd lieutenant, Air
Corps in the regular army.
A graduate of Santa Rosa high
school, Lt. Schmidt entered the army
at Buckley Field, Colorado, in September of 1943. On April 18, 1946,
Lt. Schmidt was commissioned a 2nd
lieutenant, Air Corps, AUS, and was . ’
presented the wings of a pilot. Lt.
Schmidt arrived in the Panama.
