FRENCH CORRAL, Camptonviile Mining . gravel, Harrison came here about a June 21, year ago from Gold Run and is well (Special to The Nugget) The long. pleased with the mining possibilities year, but we sincerely hope, it may not be the ! hottest, for after. two days of ex. cessive heat we feel rather unabie to cope with the third and longest day. Well, as in this none can be choosers we must take what is sent . and make the best of it. After the plenteous rain of a week ago, we are still exclaiming, “Strange weather for June’. No particular damage was done in this, section, however. We begin this week’s items with feelings of both joy and sorrow. AS est day of the: we are wont to put sorrow away, we will write of the joyous’ past first. It gave us, great pleasure to read in Tuesday’s Union = that the spirt of patriotic enthusiasm had been thoroughly aroused, and Grass Valley would give their almost traditional . observance of 4th of July, and have a celebration. The San Juan Ridg: is always proud of our “Twin (ilies’’, and it. would) seem almost a calamity if that beautiful custom of much over half a century .met with _ failure. Would that we of this section could take an active part in it. Why could “we not put ona float? Our Hi School Bus might play its part in this, was suggested by_one of our young ladies. After five years of steady association the ‘‘Old Bus’’ has become endeared almost as the school room, Get busy girls and boys, and the the Ridge be represented! Boost the Ridge, be represented! Boost our own Nevada county! Friday evening brought friends from Sacramento. Mr. Clarence Hoffman and son, Milton, to whom French Corral is always ‘‘Home’”. They pitched their tent beneath the pines, and it was lucky they had a tent for use the morning the rainstorm was on. They returned to Sacramento Sunday afternoon, but Say, they can even enjoy a rainstorm in Freneh Corral. , Bill Walsh of Smartville passed through Friday morning with a drove of cattle. The S. J. R. W. A. dance that was to be given at San Juan the night of the 15th had to te post_ poned on account of the storm. It seems the weather plays a hoodoo on the Association dances with snows and rain.
