Entering the army in April 1941 at McClellan Field, as a cadet, Major Joyal completed his ‘cadet training in December 1941. Upon his graduation at Luke ,Field; Arizona, he was comwilicidued a second lieutenant, Air Corps and awarded the Wings of a Pilot, In 19415 he attended the command and general staff school at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
