CITY TRUSTEES DISCU
TRAFFIC ORDINANCE
An extended session of the city
board of trustees was held Tliursday evening, a number of items of
business coming up for consideration. The main source of worry for
the city dads is the framing of the
new traffic ordinance which is des; tined to correct many of the present
evils and also to pour a new source
of revénue into the city coffers.
The ordinance which las been jn
‘the making for some months is now
practically ready for its final draft
‘and enactment into law. It lists four
streets as boulevards, Pine street
from Broad to Saeramento, Broad
from Junction of East and West
‘Broad to Plaza, ‘Sacramento from
Plaza to: Zion and Zion from Sacramento to the city limits. Stop signs
will be erected along these thorough‘fares and an effort made to enforce
the provisions of the ordinance. All
night parking in the business section has been a troublesonie item as
, Well as some of the old cars which
,have been stored about the streets
for some months. Due attention is
being given to the request of the fire
,department for certain parking re. strictions to allow the free movelent of the fire trucks at all times.
. Parking on Broad Street from the
theatre to the-Plaza is,to be diagonal on the south side amd parrallel on
j the north to give more room for
(moving traffic. The new ordinance
i will mark an important step for Ne. vada City which has been getting al‘ong haphazard for many years with-.
out ‘any traffic regulation.
FOURTH OF JULY DONATION
In keeping with its regular custom
;the trustees voted $100 for the
. Fourth of July celebration and will
also’ provide benches and other conveniences for that day. A request of
the Sacramento Bee for an advertising. contribution was passed over, all
advertising matters being left to the
advertising committee of the celebration. Tfe trustees showed their willin every way
but put their foot down on the numerous special police which have decorated the city payroll on some previous oceasions. The sheriff's office
and the state triffic police will be
asked to assist.in keeping the traitic
under eontrol;
The matter of*a‘suitable garbage
dump has its innings but no decision
was arrived at . The present dump
on the Gates place near Sugar Loaf
will not be available any longer and
another location will have to be
found.
Several residents of Park Avenue
had a petition before the board for
a new street light in their neighborhood and the matter was left in the
hands of Trustee Murchie for disposal.

the streets are-to° be put under cover as soon as

Water eollections showed a total
of $1492.25 for the past month.
Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Tamb}yn have
returned from an eventful trip to
scraper and one,
San Jose. While there they/ witnessed
the graduation of their daughter Vivian from the State Teachers Colleve
and their daughter Irvina’s wedding.
She was married to Mr. Vernon
. Shattuck at the Willow Glen Methodist Church. The happy couple will
make their home at San Jose.
If we are going to have a good
front. porch campaign, we must have
something different from
room nomination.
“a ~ back
Very glorious to fly to the top of
the world in an airplane, but before
. doing so the husbands sheuld climb
to the top of the stepladder and fix
those window curtains.
Many automobile accidents are due
to defective steering gear. but nune
{is of course ever due to driving 100
fast.
A great number of our people are
planning to celebrate’ the patriotic
deeds of the fathers by eating a lot
of ice cream and going fishing.

NEW RATES MAKB ELECTRIC COOKING VERY ECONOMICAL
coma
And then ~~
let the electric range do
all the cooking
Every woman loves to cook—when
cooking is gone.
That is what the electric range does. It eliminates
cooking monotony. Its harmonious white porcelain
enamel inakes kitchens attractive. Its perfect baking
wins appetites. And its automatic time and temperature
controls do the cooking while you’re shopping or at the
movies,
The oven of the new electric range heats up to 400
degrees in 9 to 11 minutes—as fast as one can mix biscuits. The open coil cooking elements are now made
smaller to fit your pans. Heat that was formerly wasted
goes to work. The result is, food cooks faster — less
electricity is used.
See the new electric ranges today. Ask about our
special low terms.
