STATEFAIRTO
‘SET NEW MARK
IN RACE PRIZES
SACRAMENTO, June 24. — California’s 83-year-old State Fair is being groomed to break even more records in 1937 than the recordshattering last year’s fair. Robert Muckler of, Hollywood, the new secretarymanager, has surveyed the prospects
and declares every department is
prepared to excel.
Entries for the anual race classic
include outstanding favorite horses
from widely known tracks. Purses
of more than $40,000-are the greatest in the fair’s history. A current
hit from the New York Hippodrome,
Lotti@ Mayer’s Disappearing Water
Ballet, has been obtained for the
‘night show and will leave for London after filling the fair engagements.
Arrangements are being made for
outstanding agricultural and livestock displays. As a part of this
program, Muckler declared to agri“California
produces, what no other state can.
This algne is sufficient reason to
build a greater state fair.’’ In line
with this thought, Muckler believes
that the fair soon can be placed on
the standard of a world’s fair.
After considerable study, the song,
“Tt Love You California’ has ‘been
selected as the theme of the 1937
fair. _
Much work has een done to provide grounds improvements, greater
beauty, additional benches, new
comfort stations, and the planting
of full grown trees.
The fair days are Saptember 5 to
12. The California fair is the second
largest state fair in America.

of which the owner is a member. On
the other leg it had a ruwbber band
which is the counter mark or race
