' contained ‘‘veils’”’ of the lace curtain PAGE FOUR SOCIAL Pauline Rozynski to Wed William Mullis Through the issuing of invitations this week Mrs. Pearl Rozynski of Willow Valley announces the coming marriage of her daughter, Miss Pauline Marie Rozynski to William Earl Mullis of Nevada City. The ceremony will take place at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, July Fourth, at the home of the groom's parents on Boulder street. Both graduated from the Nevada City high school with the class of 1936 and are highly esteemed by al) who know them. They will spend a honeymoon in San Francisco and Santa Cruz returning to Nevada City to reside. The well wishes of the entire community is extended to the young people for happiness and success. Weddings of Koay Counles “‘Solemnized” The lovely gardens of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Garrison, south of Nevada City. was the scene of a quadruple mock-wedding Friday. June 19, The June. wedding groups were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. Ed LaTour, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin-Schance, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rickard, all of whom have been. married during the past two years, in order given. Tuesday night’s *+eeremony turned about, the couples were each given a box, and the ladies instructwas ed to dress the gentlemen with all. they found in the boxes. Each Dox vintage,’’ lengths of streamers and the bridal bouquets of © sweetpeas. When the blushing grooms’ were ready Mr. Garrison tolled an old rusty cowbell, and the couples took their places before an improvised piltar.”* Walter Butz, Jr., carried the four masculine size wedding rings (a la portier) and Mrs. GarTrison officiated. The best dressed groom was presented with a large bouquet, determined by popular applause. All four couples were presented with a delicious, large, wedding cake, decorated by Mr. Jack Bennett with the names of each couple. Following the ceremony a weinié Toast and hot coffee was served. Watters . of Gold Flat Honored Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Watters of Gold Flat were given a _ surprise party Tuesday evening on the 25th or Silver anniversary of their wedding. Seventy members of the Thursday Club of Gold Flat and Tuesday Club of Nevada City prepared a potluck supper and under the guise of a Father’s Night visit from friends, completely surprised Mr. and Mrs. Watters. Mr. and Mrs. Watters were married in the home of. Mrs. Watters’ mother, Mrs. Clemo of Gold Flat, and have resided imtheir home nearby ever since. The club presented Mr. and Mrs. -Watters with a set oo silver. Mrs. Farley Attends Calneva Opening Mrs. Russell B. Farley of this city was among the guests of Mr. Chester Smith, chief of liquor control of Marysville, who motored to the opening on Saturday night of Calneva on the California-Nevada state line near Lake’ Tahoe. Between 1500 and 2000 people were present. The big lodge is built on a huge rock, a natural cold stream of water. gushes out of the rock and runs by the dance floor. A fireplace has been cut into the roek for the big room also. The immense floor was. too crowded for comfortable and a hum of roulette wheels and all sorts of gambling devices were: heard above the din of music and voices. There were many people present from’the bay district. Reno, and surrounding cities. The gay. throng dréssed in gorgeous clothes and glowing brilliant jeyelry made a never-to-be-forgotten scene. Mrs. Farley said she had the novel experience of sitting with another couple on the.state, line, she with partner in California and the other pair. in Nevada, the line running through the building near the fireplace.
