Everthing is taking on its spring beauty. Almond, apricot and peach trees are in bloom. The beautiful red of the Japanese quY¥fce. ,along with showy jonquils, daffodils, narcissus and hyacinths and violets galore beatify the gardens, and the~grass, blessed grass! It is making pastures green. In the country grass means so much yes, everything, for as many are dependent ‘on it for feed for their stock. Many predict a dry season, but we can still hope for the rains that we need! Under our new administration the farmers can hope for all good things. With the wonderful radio service of today many had the pleasure of listening to the inauguraiicn ceremonies of President Hoover. In fact, one could almost imagine being an onlooker. Far away places are brought very near to us nowadays with this wonderful service. Miss Millie Clerkin returned to her home Friday after a pleasant visit with the family of Chas. Buhi of Brown’s Valley. H. Browning and WN. B. Bishop and Joe Swazey .made a trip to Nevada ete and, Grass Valley Friday. W. E. Moulton went’ to North Bloomfield to bring his daughter, Louise, to spend the week’s end at home. Miss Louise returned to North Bloomfield Sunday afternoon. Mrs. E. Sutherland, Miss Barbara McMinn and. Miss Louise Moulton were Saturday visitors in Nevada City. H. Flynn of Colgate called on friends in French Corral Friday. A. Browning is doing road work between . the Tackitt and Moynier places. Clerkin and Joe Swaze; went to Pike City they wiil remain for awhile to de some work on Mr. Clerkin’s place. Walter MecCulleugh of San Juan made a trip to the Clerkin place Monday. He was accompanied by Miss Clerkin, who spent the day at his home. Mr, and Mrs. E. Bundy and son. Dickey,. and Mrs. L. R. Moore, of Saeramento were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. DePrati Tuesday. Accompanied by Mrs. De Prati the party Monday, where made a trip. to Camptonville of which place they had often héard Mrs. De Prati spéak in praise as it had beenher home ‘for many years. Too bad.their visit was not postponed: for a few weeks when thé winter look would be displaced by spring. Mrs. De Prati. returned to French Corral Thursday after a visit with fiends at Camptonville. Arbor Day was observed at the French Corral schéol by the planting of tree and an appropriate program. Rainfall for February was 5.55 inches and 4 inches of snow fell aiso during the month. S. C.
