CENTRAL EUREKA MINING
COMPANY NOW STOPING
Sutter Creek, Calif., March 12—
Stoping operations are in full swing
an the entirely new orebody recently
‘disclosed by the north drift on the
2,100-foot level of the Old Eureka
section of the property of the Central Eureka Mining Company, on the
-outskirts of Sutter Creek. The yield
«of this work and like operations in
-& previously known and developed
orebody on and above the 2,000-foot
Zevel is providing current production
eof ore for the company’s 40-stamp
mill. Prior to the inaugration of
stoping, the new ore shoot was folowed for a distance of more than
130 feet and found to average in
‘width seven feet and in value$13.,
in gold to the ton. Drifting north in
the new find has been resumed and
on the 2,000 and 2,300-foot levels
drifts are bein extended in the same
“direction to. interest its upward and
wlownward extensions.
Over 750 feet of the 1,550 feet
Separating the main Central Eureka
shaft and its Old Eureka shaft has
een gained in the extensions under
«ontract of the north drift from the
+2,540-foot level station of the former
‘to the 2,300-foot point in the latter,
at is officially learned. The completYon of this connecting drift, proceed — :
j
‘than $6,000,000., principally gold.
ing between two:parreled veins about
70 feet a part ad calculated to be accomplished by August next, is likely
to mark a-new epoch in Central
Eureka history, since thereafter it
will be possible for the company to
handle all Old Eureka, Central
Eureka, Central Eureka and South
Eureka mine through the new working and up the Old Eureka shaft,
instead of by way of the South
Eureka Shaft, as at present. This new
method’ of raising to the surface the
water from the three mines will,
it is claimed by the management,
effect a saving to the Central Eureka
company of $30,000, annually and,
in addition, permit of the future exploration and development more
edenemirally and advantageously of
the Central Eureka and Old Eureka
ore bodies, which are to the north,
than is possible under present conditions.
O-erations on the 900-foot level
of the Pacific mine’ section of hte
Plymouth Consolidated property, at
plymouth, under the direction of
the management of the Argonout
Mining Company, owners of the famous Argonaut.mine at Jackson, are
approching an intersecting stage.
The crosscut being run west from the
pacific shaft for the purpose of picking up in that area the northern extension of the Empire mine vein, has
been advanced more than 200 feet
and it is calculated that its goal
should be reached with a compartively small amount of additional
work. Particular significance attach-}
es to the current work for the reason
that the Empire orebody in theadjoining Empire ground was worked
in earlier days to an incline depth
of 1,300 and a vertical depth of 1,140
feet, with a credited yield of more
Shaft sinking has reached a depth
of 95 feet, on the dip of the vein, and
drifting west at that level is also in
progress at the Quartz Mountain
property, four and a half miles northwest of Sutter Creek, which is being
operated by Anderson Callison, San
Francisco oil man, and James R, Mur
phey, former Nevada mining man.
Both workings are exposing full
widths of ore shipping grade, occarding to Mr. Murphey, who is directing
the development of the property.
GOLD-GRAVEL PRODUCTS
INC, TO BEGIN WORKING
San Andres, Clif., March 12-After
a year and a half of preliminay work,
Gold-Gravel Products, Inc., a -close
California corporation, will within
the next ten days begin the operation of its patented property of
1,512 acres at Wallace, 20 miles
northwest of San Andreas on, a large
scale, according to Warren V. Clark,
president and manager.T ests have
shown that the gold-bearing gravel
deposit, it is stated by the manage
ment, embraces 30,000,000 cubic
feet an average depth of 20 feet.
The washing plant, installed and
ready to start, has a capacity of 150
cubic yards an hour. The equipment
also includes-a link belt power shovel attached to a tracter, two 8-ton
locomotives, twelve, 4-cubic yard
dump cars and 3,000 feet of 36-inch.

gauge railroad track. The water is
impounded and«tised’ over, the only
loss being by evaporation. The company is capitalized for 25,000 shares
of no par value. The officers are;
President and manager, Warren V.
Clark vice-president, E. L. Farrington; secretary-treasure, Warren R.
Clark; directors, the above named
with Arthur H. Barendt. All reside
at Wallace except Mr._Barendt, who
is an attorney of San Francisco.
The five-stamp mill being erected
on the Bower mine, 17 miles northwest of Angles Camp, by Todd B.
Elliot, San Francisco mining engineer, and eastern associates under
a lease and bond, is nearly completion. Mr. Elliot estimates that the
plant will be placed in commission
by March 15. The equipment being
installed also includes a 30-ton daily
capacity ball mill regrinding purposes. In reopening and retimbering
drifts on the vein from a crosscut
tunnel, run by the early operators
for the property, one of the three
known ore shoots has again been revealed for a distance of 200 feet with
its full length yet to de determinded.
Work thus far accomplished has
shown the. shoot. to average eight
feet in width and assay $20 in gold
to the ton, with small silver and lead
values.
F. W. Wright and associates of
Milton, Calif., are obtaining encouraging results in the operation of the
Ranch mine, three miles north of
Felix, under a lease and bond from
J. D. McCarty of Copperoplis, Calif.
From an orebody assaying $5 in gold
to the ton and varying in width from
one to five feet, they are exeracting
sufficient ore to keep an 18-ton
daily capacity ball mill busy. The
ore is being mined from a “‘blanket’’
vein which has opened up to a depth
of 60 feet on its dip and a length of
259 feet. At another point on the
property the operators are unwatering a 225-foot icline shaft on the
main or Ranch vein.
At ‘the Boundry Cone property,
two miles southwest of Mokelumne
Hill, the drift being advanced upstream along the west bank of the
ancient fiver channel under exploration is yielding pay gravel of good
grade, it is stated by Min Manager
John McSorley. The face of the working has a vertical depth of 165 feet
below the surface and is 500 feet
distant from th bottom of th 450foot incline shaft through which operations are being prosecuted.
