The New Deal has missed the soltition of the Nation's
problems by miles, as one is bound to realize when there aré
11,000,000 unemployed and 20,000,000 on relief.
Mr. Roosevelt has tried. Everybody agrees to that. But
he tried through three years during most of which time there
was nothing whatever in his wayback of him when he-went into office. Congress waz his rubstamp. The doors to the Treasury were thrown open. He
got the laws he wanted. No one interfered as he created bureau after bureau and spent billion. after billion.
Continued majority support of Mr. Roosevelt, who also
has failed to cure the depression, simply would not make
sense.—Sioux City, lowa, Journal.

more effective relief at less cost. They suspect that Federal . .

relief which is marked by greater decentralization, less boondoggling and fewer opportunities for political mismanagement.—Minneapolis Tribune.
