Mr. Arbogast said: “I did not refuse
to give aid to Behrbaum because he
was a CIO. If he were sticking to his
job and up against it, I would thave
.} issued an order on the Nevada City
Sanitarium to accomodate his wife
during her confinement, ‘whether or
not he was a CIO. Members of the
/board do give such aid with the proviso that when the'man is able, he
repays the county. Some of them
repay, and some of them don’t. But
here was a man who had 'thrown up
his job anid now asked the county to
take care of his wife and expected
baby. I did not think we had a right
to spend the tax payers money in that
way. The same reasoning applies +
Claggett.'The baby was taken care
of at the Landis clinic, and the county did not pay the bill, Maternity

any gsrievancés either as regards wages or working conditions to the management. ;
