She owns more than 52 per cent of the property and will remain at the mine to supervise operations. VETERAN, DEAD John Marks, 44 years old World War veteran, who fired a bulet into his brain last Friday afternoon, died at ‘the county hospital Saturday morning and ‘was buried from Holmes Funeral Home chapel this fore‘noon. Rev. J. P. O'Reilly officiated and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Banner Mt. Post, V. ,F. W., of which he was a member . participated in the cide ‘. Marks was a native Nevada i City and was employed in ee mines until he enlisted in the army and . soneca about a year overseas going}, . through some of the worst fighting on the battle front. He was severely wounded by bursting schrapnel and was in several hospitals many months but always had to walk with one or sometimes two crutches. In recent conference with a bay city doctor he learned his leg might have to come off at the hip and it is believed this prospect with constant pain, caused him to despair. He had been operating a cafe on Broad street about a . year and seemed in good spirits up until the time of the shooting. The community ‘was saddened by his tragic death. He was the son of Mrs. Mary Silva Marks and the late. Manuel Marks. Also surviving him are, one drother, /Manuel Marks of San Francisco:
