Yuba River Sniper
A forty foot drop from the South
Fork of the Yuba River Bridge on
the Downieville Highway to the
rocks of the stream bank did not
even knock Martin Jensen, 50, river
sniper, unconscious.
It required officers, an ambulance
crew and a physician almost an hour
to drag Jensen to the highway by
rope. The injured man, two companions told the officers, struck the
rocks on his head.
When hoisted to the highway Jensen told Dr. W. W. Reed he was feeling ‘‘okeh’’ but an examination in
the county hospital here, where Jensen is a patient revealed a skull fracture.
