FORESTRY STUDENTS TO JOHN HAMILTON WILL BROADCAST WASHINGTON, May 2. — John Hamilton, chairman of: the Republican National Committee, has announced that he will break his postelection silence with a series of four radio speeches during May. The first was made May 1. “T have done a great deal of listening in the last six months.’”’ Mr. Hamilton said. “All over the country I find the old lines of political allegiance ghiifting and new lines forming. Political developments since the election have been rapid and important. It seems to me the time has come to look at he new political picture, to re-examine the old, and to discuss the position and attitude of the Republican party in the changed set up.” On the Saturday night May 8, Mr. Hamilton: will speak over the Red Network of the National Broadcasting Company from 9:30 to 10:00 o’clock, Eastern standard time. On Sunday night, May 16, and again on Sunday night, May 23, he will broadcast over the Columbia Network from 10:00 to 10:30 o’clock, Bastern standard time. GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE WILL OPEN MAY 27 SAN FRANCISCO, ‘May ”.—The Golden Gate. Bridge, linking San Francisco and the Redwood Bmpire counties to the north, will be thrown on Thursday morning, May 27, at 6 @ m. the opening day of a week’s fiesta in San’ Francisco. It will remain open: for public inspection by pedestrians exclusively until 6:30 p. m. ‘They will be allowed to enter from either the San Francisco or the Marin ends of the span. The bridge will be deticated to vehicular traffic May 28. WORK IN TAHOE FOREST Nineteen forestry students will be employed on the Tahoe National Forest during the present field season according to DeWitt Nelson, supervisor at Nevada City. Three of them will work as ccalers on timber sale operations within the forest and sixteen will be employed as guards, lookouts ,or protective assistants in the summer protective force. ‘‘Forestry students make ideal employees” Nelson says. ‘They are young and enthusiastic and having chosen forestry as their career, give their work their best effors as a matter of selfdevelopment.” THOMAS TO SING AT BRIDGE FIESTA SAN FRANCISCO, May &.—John Charles Thomas, famous ‘baritone, will have the leading male role in the glorious fiesta pageant which is to be held during the Golden Gate Bridge Fiesta from May 27 to June 2 in San Francisco. The pageant will have a cast‘of 3,000 and a symphonic orchestra of 100 pieces. It will be staged May 27, 28 and 30 in the Redwood Grove Theatre, now being built at Crissy Field in the Presidio of San Francisco. KEESLING WILL BE GATE BRIDGE ORATOR SAN FRANCISCO, May &.—Francis V. Keesling, prominent San Francisco attorney, will be the orator of the day at the formal opening of the Golden Gate Bridge on May 28. Keesling is a former director of the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway district and for many years was chairman of the district’s building committee, which ‘supervised the bridge construction plans.
