NEVADA CITY: In resounding
terms, D. W. Montgomery, speaker
at Wednesday night’s Lions meeting
at the Deer Creek Inn, denounced
communism and urged his hearers tc
actively combat what he termed the
insidious alien influence. Montgomery, of Paradise,’ Butte County, is
district governor for the Lions Club.
He lamented the “spread of Communism, the creeping ideology; and
stated that, unless active preventive
measures are taken, “it can happen
here.” The ‘‘tyranny under another
name” he said. operated by Stalin
from Moscow, sought at present ‘‘to
create chaos.” ©
Montgombery presented the recently founded group with a purple
and gold banner emblazoned with
