Splendid exercises were held by both grammar and high schools in honor of George Washington. 0. MORMON HILL GROUP LEASED R. G. Dent and associates have leased the Mormon Hill group of quartz mines,-owned by H. L. and G. C. Fowler, six miles north of Georgetown, El Dorado county. They slope toward Otter creek. Extensive development. work was commenced there within the last few days. A 100-ton crusher is being installed. It is said that the ledge is one of the widest in the county, being 100 feet and even wider in places. The ore runs from $7 to $10 a ton, it is claimed. The group consists of 120 acres. Much development work has been done on the Mormon Hill group during the past few years, and considerable gold has been taken out. One piece alone weighed $96. R. G. Dent, who has charge of the work, was formerly of Auburn. 0 SIGNS TO BE POSTED IN MOUNTAIN PLAYGROUNDS Over 2,600 metalSaumeted distance and direction signs will be posted by forest rangers in the national forests of California this summer, according to reports’ of Regional Forester S. B. Show, chief of the Salifornia region, U. S. forest service. Sign posting is an annual duty of the rangers, due to the construction of new roads and trails for the use of travelers and campers and for the adminitsration of the national forests.
