NOR. SAN JUAN
NINE WALLOPS
CAMP BRADLEY
By BOB BRATTHWAITE
The North San Juan baseball team
played its first game on home
grounds last Sunday. The Camp
Bradley boys of the Forest Hill CCC
came to town and the local team
gave them their first set-back of the
season with a score of 11 to 7. The
starting battery for North San Juan
was Luther Thompson and Andy
Yori. Elmo Dudley replacing Thompson in the fifth.
The Ridge team dropped three
games before they found thmselves,
but with a little ironing out on the
rough places they will repeat last
year’s performance and win the pennant. The next two games the boys
will meet stiff opposition. Next Sunday they take on Georgetown and
the following Sunday Forest Hill. Tt
will require heads-up baseball to
chalk up a win from these two teams.
Both of these games will be played
on the new Robinson Field east of
North San Juan.
Mrs. A. A. Cunningham, proprietress of the Willow Springs store and
filling station, and Mr. Jack Brooks,
owner of the Forty Niner Bar and
clubrooms ‘are loyal supporters of
the baseball. team. Through their
generous contributions they made it
possible for the local boys to have
the necssary equipment and diamond
accessories.
Manager Virgil Church of the
North San Juan Ridge runners is doing a great job of keeping the boys
on their toes. He has what it takes
to hold the team together in the
tight places when the going is tough.
The people up here are pulling for
him and hope his year will be a successful one.

CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE
