PAGE FOUR NEVADA CITY NUGGET : FRIDAY, MAY 22, 1936. HOLMES FUNERAL HOME NEW CHAPEL ARTISTIC MODERN Resplendent in the beauty of Colonial architecture, the new funeral chapel and additions to the main floor. of the Holmes Funeral Home in this city have reached completion. The new structure, an addition to the long established mortuary on Sacramento street, is one of the most modern of its kind in California. Its white fronting with green trim and its beautiful interior mark it as an outstanding addition to. the city. Mr. Holmés_has been the recipient of many congratulations for his enterprise in establishment of such a mew and dignified place of business. Work in constructing the chape! was handled entirely by local artisans, Howard Ross, local contractor, having had complete charge of the building and remodeling. The chapel is 55 feet in length, 25 feet in width and has a total seating capacity of 210 persons. , The interior is a splendid examlarge hewn beams supporting and adding to the beauty of the structure. The front of the chapel opens into a chalice, with stained glass window of a Biblical nature, colorfully representing an appropriate background. Rooms for both flowers and music have been constructed, the flower -Toom having access to an elevator ‘~which connects it with the morticjan’s quarters, Remodeling of the main’ floor of the home has also added to the attraction of the establishment. New lighting fixturés of a colonial nature have been installed and .blend. with the new tint work and the wall paper and carpet.
