MORE JOBS FOR
COLLEGE GRADS
BERKELEY, ae 21. ——Not only
have the job possibilities of University of California graduates increased 100 per cent over last year, but
. the demand for college and .university graduates in vall: parts of the
country has .experienced a pickup
ranging all the way from 20 to 100
per cent. Starting salaries are also
up from $5 to $20 over the June,
1935. figures. These facts have just
been mede public by ° Miss Vera
Christie, manager of* the University’s Bureau of Oceupations. .
The Universities of Oregon, Washington and Southern California
port a demand for capable graduates
averaging 100 per cent over last
year, with the demand: for certain
groups greater than thé supply. The
demand is particularly heavy in the
South with the *Louisiana State University, favorite educational. institution of the late Senator Huey Long
reporting approximately four times
as many calls for graduates as last
year.
The unprecedented stimulus’ in
building, which extends through the
so-called ‘‘heavy ‘industries,’’ such
as concrete, timber, iron and steel,
is making a sharfly increased demand on engineering and technical
institutions. Marketing and ‘sales
