Package deals have been outlowed in merchandising, Warren said, because unserupulous merchants uéed them as a device for getting rid of unswanted goods. It is a device for selling the public something it does not want and something it wouldn’t buy unless beguiled into doing so. It was used in selling goods that wouldn’t move from the shelves in any other way. Perhaps these goods were shopworn. Perhaps the public wouldn’t need them: Sometimes they were even downright worthless. Warren demanded to know wrapped up this package deal? What were ther: motives in doing it? By what right did they assume the power and authority to drive all exept their own hand ‘picked candidates out of the primary election? A package deal, the governor ‘declared can e jbust as fraudulent ‘in the public service as it is in merson re and it is far more dangerous. . ~~ who No Tracer Ammunition To Be Used In Forests Fire: prevention officials of the state division of forestry today cautioned the public of the’ illegality of possession and use of tracer am4 munition on forest and brush lands throughout California. Recent investigations show large quantities of tracer ammunition in civilian hands and with a potentially hazardous fire season ahead state fire prevention officials are extrem‘ely anxious to promulgate public understahding of the seriousness of the condition and the necessity for reducing all possible fire evauses through the present fire season. Relative to the potential fire hazard of tracer ammunition to forest and brush covered lands a fire prevention law was passed during the 1946 legislative session. This law is Section 4169 of the public resources code and reads: No person shall fire or cause to be fired any tracer bullet or tracer change onto or across any forest or brush covered’ lands nor shall he have in his possession any tracer bullet or tracer charge on such lands.
