J, WILLIAMS
CANDIDATE FOR
CONSTABLE POST.
James Williams, experienced law
officer of this area, who in addition
to service as a city police officer and
deuty sheriff, has been constable of
Nevada Township since the retirement of William Jeffery a year ago,
has announced he will be a candidate
for the constable post at the coming
election. :
Williams has ably handled the
duties of the office since his appointment as constable by the supervisors
when Jeffery submitted his resignation because of ill health.
The constable candidate has been
a resident of this community pragtically his entire life. Ror years he
worked in the mines of this area.
The duties of the constable are
principally to serve papers issued
from the justice court and to act as
the bailiff of the court during trials.
The constable, however, is a peace
officer and is often called upon to
risk his life in the performance of
his duties.

message to the thousands of California women
who now use the electric range. It is a good and faithful and
durable servant in your home. Take care of it. Study again
the instruction book that came with your electric range.
Save electricity and save your range by cooking at proper.
temperature and exact cooking time. Unnecessary high‘heat wastes kilowatts. Overcooking wastes electricity and
destroys nutritive values in foods.
You, as an electric range user, have practiced nutritional cooking for years. You have, for example, cooked vegetables with little water over the glowing coils of electric

to use color to bring out the advantages
of your particular home and to blend the
defects out of notice.
Everybody notices a newly painted
house. A fresh, clean coat of paint makes
scowling houses smile again. Their owners feel a new thrill of delight. The community regards the home owner who keeps
his home painted as a good neighbor and
a valuable citizen.
