LET’S MAKE IT A MINING CELEBRATION
NOTEWORTHY proposal has been made by Edward C.
Uren, sterling town booster, that the Fourth of July cele‘dted to the development of the bration this year in Nevada City, be built around the mining .
. idea, and there is much of merit in the proposal that com.
Publication office, 305 Broad St. ' mends it to the town tboosters. Mining has been the backbone ,
. of Nevada County's wealth for many years and will continue .
to be for many years to come, and anything. that will keep .
that thought uppermost in the eyes of the world should be .
advocated. With the great influx of mining individuals and .
companies which is on at the present time, such a celebration
will tend to focys interest in no, uncertain manner. There are .
several available sites where the various forms of placer mi.
ning could be exhibited and in a manner that it could be view.
ed by a large number of people. The matter. will again be taken
up in the meeting at the city halll tonight and it is to be hop. ed that a great deal of interest will be taken to make the celPublished at! ebration one long to be remembered.
.NEJITH SEVERAL large mining deals under way at thé present time in this section, interest in gold mining is rapidly
on the increase and it may be confidently stated that the coming year will see a great revival of interest in Nevada and Si_erra counties. Every day The Nugget office is the mecca of
‘many seekers of information on various properties. A large
fund of information And data has been acquired the past year
on the hundreds of mining properties in the two counties and.
this information is readily available to any interested persons.
A mining center that does not have its mining information
bureau is sadly handicapped and The Nugget is endeavoring to
fill that particular niche. Mining men can assist greatly by
listing information regarding their properties with us for our
files. Mining literatyre is also on file and the leading mining
publications. Maps of the various districts are being added so
that a complete fund of information may be at hand. AAW

FROM OUR READERS
Editor of The Nugget—
There is another method of pyramiding land values beyond the hope
of pfofitable
desérves the careful consideration of
‘every good citizen in this state.
We refer to the “refinancing” of
irrigation districts, Where instead of
letting ailing projects go to the
bankrupt court and be ‘washed out”
and revalued on a fair basis, bond
houses and< creditors step in, issue
new secufities, and further inflate
the oyérhead of a project which is
alreddy manifestly too high.
/ Such manipulations may be nourishing for the bond house = or the
bank that does the ‘‘refinancing,’’ for
they get their commission, but the
sales price on many of our projects
has been inflated to a level which
ean eventually mean but one result
unless a miracle happens and a land
boom causes idea of value to aviate.
It is, of course, commendable to
want to keep out ofthe bankrupt
