report on the condition of streams
hereabouts for the benefit of fishermen:

SQUIRREL CREEK — Five miles
west of Grass Valley on the Marysville highway. Water will be clear
for the opening day, bait fishing
reommended, worms and _ salmon
eggs.
ROUGH AND READY RESERVOIRS—A few fish should be taken
on bait. The water is slightly muddy.
GRASS VALLEY RESERVOIRS—
In Alta Hill section. Favorite with
younger generation of the city. Bait
is the popular’ lure.
WOLF CREEK—Above’ Maryland
mines. Low clear water. Bait is generally used.
BEAR RIVER—The water is high
and muddy and bait should be used
for best results. Later when the
water clear, spinners and flies will
be usd to advantage.
GREENHORN OREEK—Flomfing
into Bear River, is also high and
muddy. ;
WOODPECKER CREEK—Starting
on the lower Colfax road and flowing into Dunn’s Dam is eclear and
bait fishing should be ef ive.
YUBA RESERVIORS—Sometimes
called the Banner Reservoirs on Banner Mountain is a favorite with local fishermen and bait is most’ generally used,
DEER CREEK AND LITTLE
DEER CREEK—Above Nevada City
are high at this time and bait should
be used, but later flies and spinners
are effective.
SCOTTS FLAT DAM—Usually is
the objective of many fishermen on
the opening day and trout are generally taken on. bait.
ROCK CREEK—From Lake Vera
on down to the Yuba River will be
clear at this time and bait is the
general lure.
RUSH CREEK—From Uncle Tom’s
Cabin to the Yuba. River is clear
and trout are taken on the opening
day.
OREGON CREEK — Seven miles
north of North San Juan on the Yuba
Pass highway is high and muddy
from Freeman’s Crossing to Forest
City and few fish will be taken until
later when spinners and flies will be
used to best advantage.
NORTH FORK OF YUBA RIVER
—Some fish will be taken on Hel-:
gramites and worms, between Downieville and Sierra City, but like the
other two Yubas will be high and
“ muddy due to melting snow.
All lakes above Sierra City are
frozen over and are inaccessible due
to roads ‘being blocked by snow, they

Pin-Wheel Salad
1-3) ounce package ¢réam cheese.
1 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise. 1 teaFrom Aunt Sarah
spoon chives (cut fine). 4 thin slices boiled ham. Blend together cream
cheese, mayonnaise, and_ chives.
Spread on slices of boiled ham. Roll
up each slice firmly, place on plate,
and chill in refrigerator. When thoroughly chilled, slice rolls in 1-4 inch
slices and pile on crisp lettuce. Serve

Richard Tremaine, on the local
P. G. & E. staff, returned Saturday
from a two week’s motor trip which
which covered 3,000 miles. He accompanied. his-nephew, Roy Williams and wife, and niece, Alma

Alto. They went to Reno, and on to
Virginia City, then south through
Nevada state to Boulder Dam. All
