SNOWDEN HILL
MINE TO RESUME
CAMPTONVILLE, April 29.—C.
T. Driscoll of Irvington, trustee of
Snowden Hill mine, has given an option for 60 days to T. J. Cane and W.
J. Nert, of San Francisco, to the
property. During this period, these
men expect to come up with an engineer and fully make an investigation of the property and if it appears to be what they think it is,
they will-commence operations. They
already have the necessary capital
to go ahead with.
Snowden Hill mine is one of the
oldest and always considered the best
placer property in -this section. A
drift gravel proposition owned and
worked in the early days by Jerry
Watts, a popular character in this
section, who through a tunnel took
out a large sum of money. Since
his time, it has been operated off and
on by various companies. :
The present owners; a group of
farmers and business people of Mission San Jose, have been in control for the past ten years. It is the
opinion of several of the local people
and old timers that there yet remains at Snowden Hill a -considerable portion of virgin gravel channel, which should be a very good
paying proposition. The mine is located nine miles north of here in the
snow belt. :
LUCKY FISHERMEN
CATCH TROUT LIMIT
James and Eddie Trimmer braved
the elements Monday and went fishing inGrizzly Canyon several miles
north of Nevada City. They returned home late and soaking wet from
the rain and moisture dripping from
the trees, but happy nevertheless,
with the limit of nice trout. This is
one of the best catches of the season so far. James Trimmer, who
eame from San Francisco for the
opening of the season, returned
home happy.

LITTLE BOBBIE, TAKEN
FOR RIDE, DISLIKES IT
GRASS VALLEY, May 4—(UP)—
Gangsters’ victims aren’t the only
persons that are ‘‘taken for a ride,’’
according to little Bobbie Pengelly.
While crossing a street here, Bobbie became entangled in a rope drag.
ging behind a passing automobile.
The lad’ grasped the rope as his feet
were jerked from the pavement. For
two blocks, Bobbie bounced along
the concrete in a sitting position, his
lusty yells failing to attract the motorist’s attention.
Then came an arterial stop sign—
and freedom for Bobbie. -The driver, unaware of the situation, continued on his way, and Bobbie, uninjured but minus the. seat of
trousers, scampered for home.
