During this period, these men expect to come up with an engineer and fully make an investigation of the property and if it appears to be what they think it is, they will-commence operations. They already have the necessary capital to go ahead with. Snowden Hill mine is one of the oldest and always considered the best placer property in -this section. A drift gravel proposition owned and worked in the early days by Jerry Watts, a popular character in this section, who through a tunnel took out a large sum of money. Since his time, it has been operated off and on by various companies. : The present owners; a group of farmers and business people of Mission San Jose, have been in control for the past ten years. It is the opinion of several of the local people and old timers that there yet remains at Snowden Hill a -considerable portion of virgin gravel channel, which should be a very good paying proposition. The mine is located nine miles north of here in the snow belt. : LUCKY FISHERMEN CATCH TROUT LIMIT James and Eddie Trimmer braved the elements Monday and went fishing inGrizzly Canyon several miles north of Nevada City.
