CAMP NOW CLOSED
Continued from page one,
In one of the 300-man camps in
Southern California, the average
gain in weight was 12 pounds per
man. Camp executives reported discipline and morale of the workers
was excellent.
Peak attendance in the camps was
reached on April 1. On that date
there were 7,184 men working:
Since that time the attendance has
been sliding gradually. On. Aril 15,
there were 6,148 men in camp. During the next few days labor liquidation will be accelerated. State officials said further appropriations
could not be secured to continue the
project. Its-apparent suecess has led
the mto consider it an ideal method
of helping destitute men tide over
the depression.
