CALIFORNIANS! .
Awaken to the big opportunities now facing us..
Even in these times of nationwide stress California
remains the “whitest spot’
Fundamentally we are sound. as a dollar . . . The
only barrier between us and good times is a mental
one—groundless fear. We Californians have everything—money, diversity of resources, productive
soil, a world-famous climate, a vast tourist business
and great shipping and manufacturing interests. We
are the best advertised community on earth.. Why
should we fear anything? Let’s unitedly support our
industries and our banking institutions by putting
every inactive dollar to work.. Buy—invest—build!
Act normal again. Active money will speed up business and all industry—and banish unemployment.
Help California lead the nation back to good times!

ELECTRIC REFRIGERATION
IS BECOMING UNIVERSAL
More than a million electric refrigerators were installed in homes
in the United States last year. This
is attributed -by leaders in the industry to the fact that housewives
are demanding.better and fore effi_
cient household appliances each year
to assist them in making their homes
more attractive, and in safeguarding
of thei families‘ health. The modern
woman operates her househoid o:
a well-planned budget and demands
that her dollars do their full share
toward making her family comfortable, healthy, and happy.
When she shops for food, she
takes advantage of the discounts
which she can get by buying in large
quantities, and then she sees to it
that this saving is not offset by food
wastage.
Just as other styles change, styles
in eating change and the trend now
is toward less food, but of a higher
place in the nation’s meals. Often
they serve as the main course, replacing heavier dishes. But their increased importance requires. that
they be of infinite variety, and attractively prepared. This .means
fresh, crips lettuce, molded gelatine,
fruits and vegetables appetizingly
chilled. :

Salads have forged to the forefront
rapidly, and now take a_ leadin-:
