COMMERCIAL STREET
REVEALS OLD TIME PEP
The “awakening of Commercial
street’ in Nevada City, has been accomplished within a few months, after many years of seeming slumber.
There are only a few of the old store
buildings unoccupied , today with
every chance that these will be remodeled.and-oceupied in ‘the near
future. Substantial business houses,
preparing to stay in Nevada City
‘have moved in and among them are
. Carnes, sign painter; Dixie Cafe, Vogue Cleaning Shop, Bosworth’s Second Hand Store. Within a few weeks
the old Native Sons corner, Pine an@
Commercial streets hall will be ready
. for occupancy. Next week will see
the opening of the modern six room
apartment house of Frank Davies in
the old Transcript building upstairs,
and the Bernadette Beauty Parlor}
downstairs. The whole building has
been remodeled by A. H. Burton,
well known contractor of Grass Valley.
This old street was the main busi.
ness section of the city years ago. Itt
has been the scene of many odd, interesting and amusing events, in the}
years gone by. Fred Breese, plumber .
of Commercial street, told a Nugget f
reporter, he remembered when there}
