The equipment, direction’ and
technique used in making this picture were the same as in making a

with this important difference:
The actors-in this drama are the
men who actually make steel, They
played the leading roles. There was}
no rehearsing.
Thrilling. Views
The technicolor camera men took
their equipment from one end of the
country to the other, from the depths
of the mines to the blast furnaces
and mills. They captured the most
thrilling steps in steel making, the
transformations which take place in
the changing of ore to the many
kinds.of steel, the blending of natural hues of open pit ore mines and
of lake and sky.
They show the flashing reds and
yellows as they issue from Bessemer
converters or illumine open hearth
charging fioors. The soaking pits;
radiating yellow-whites. Rows of
newly shaped ingots imparting orange-red. Slabs taken form in the
slabbing mills. The whole magnific.
ent story is told in beautiful sequence supported by sound effects.
Great Industry .
